Youth unemployed people in Italy 2020, by educational level

In 2020, 13.2 percent of young individuals in Italy with a high school diploma were unemployed. More specifically, the percentage refers to people aged 25 to 34 years. The unemployment rate was the highest among individuals who either held the elementary school certificate or had no education. Some 11.3 percent of young people with a university education was unemployed, the second lowest figure depicted in the chart.

The youth unemployment mostly affects the southern regions of Italy. Recent data reveal the unemployment rate among individuals aged 15 to 24 years in 2020 in Sicily, Calabria, and Campania almost reached 50 percent.
