Young unemployed people in Italy 2019, by educational level

In 2019, 13.6 percent of young individuals in Italy with a high school diploma were unemployed. More specifically, the percentage refers to people aged 25 to 34 years. The youth unemployment rate was the highest among individuals who either held the elementary school certificate or had no education. On the contrary, 11.9 percent of young people with a university education was unemployed, the lowest figure depicted in the chart.

The youth unemployment mostly affects the southern regions of Italy. Recent data reveal the unemployment rate among individuals aged 15 to 24 years in 2019 in Sicily, Calabria, and Campania stood at over 46 percent.
