Green bonds are fixed income securities which finance investments with environmental or climate-related benefits. In the nine months to September 2020, the new issuers on the green bonds market in Europe issued green bonds with a total value of 22.85 billion U.S. dollars. The highest share of green bonds by volume, 36 percent or 15 bonds, was with a tenor between one and five years.
