Opinion of New Yorkers regarding Andrew Cuomo by party 2020
In an opinion poll conducted late March 2020, 87 percent of New Yorkers surveyed who identified with the Democratic Party had a favorable opinion of Democratic state governor Andrew Cuomo. This figure dropped to 42 percent of Republicans - although this partisan divide is much less than can be seen with other politicians, notably President Trump. Given the prominent public role that Cuomo has played during the COVID-19 outbreak in New York, this poll is likely influenced, at least in part, by the state government's handling of the crisis to date.
