Due to the travel restrictions to contain the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, the hotel occupancy rate in China dropped to below ten percent in February. As the epidemic had been under control in the country, the hotel occupancy rate increased to 31.8 percent on average. In contrast, the demand of hotel rooms was still relatively high in the epicenter Wuhan city, the capital of Hubei province, mainly driven by the influx of medical workers who provided extra healthcare support.
