In April 2020, the website published a study analyzing the percentage change in user engagement during the lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, compared to figures recorded from February 13 to March 8, 2020. Data show that the Instagram engagement rose by 200 percent, while the amount of users reading news on the website rose by 55 percent from March 8 to April 2, 2020.
