Number of elementary schools in Norway 2012-2022, by type
In Norway there are two different stages of elementary school; primary school, which lasts seven years, and lower secondary schools, which lasts three years. However, some schools, especially in smaller communities, combine the two stages. In 2022, there were 1,506 primary schools, 493 lower secondary schools, and 741 combined schools.
