During the period between one week before and two weeks after the start of Ramadan in Indonesia in 2019, travel apps saw a 97 percent growth in average revenue, when compared to the same period in 2018. Ramadan in Indonesia usually sees a large movement of people, mostly from urban centers back to their hometowns. This annual migration during this festive period is referred to as 'mudik'.
