Number of hospital beds in ER and CCU Japan 2018, by prefecture
In 2018, emergency departments (ED) and critical care units (CCU) in hospitals in Tokyo Prefecture had a capacity of 682 hospital beds, which was the highest number among all 47 prefectures in Japan. Aichi Prefecture followed with 544 beds. That year, a total of around 6.3 thousand beds were available in ED and CCU in Japanese hospitals.
