According to a global survey on the trust level on various aspects, about 89 percent of the Chinese respondents trusted the government to do what is right in 2022, listed in the first place among 28 surveyed countries. The trust level declined significantly in 2020 but bounced back to the pre-pandemic level, probably related to the public sentiment on how the Chinese government had handled the coronavirus pandemic. On average, about 51 percent of respondents showed trust in their government globally.
