Medal count by country in the Men's 1,500m at the Summer Olympics 1896-2020
The Men's 1,500 meter race has been included in all Summer Olympics since the inaugural games in 1896. Since then, athletes from Great Britain have won this event the most times, with five gold medals, and 14 overall medals. U.S. athletes have also won 14 total medals in this event. The only ever podium sweep occurred in 1904, when the U.S. won all three medals in the St. Louis Games. The only athlete to ever win multiple golds is Britain's Sebastian Coe, who took the gold medals in the 1980 and 1984 events. The 2008 winner, Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain (originally from Morocco), was stripped of his medal for doping offences in November 2009.
