According to a survey among Chinese truck drivers, about 86 percent of the respondents said that they transported general goods. Around six percent of the drivers carried green channel goods, which allowed them to drive on the green channel on highways.

26.2 percent of short-distance truck drivers and 73.8 percent of long-distance truck drivers.
About 89.6 percent of the respondents were self-employed, 8.1 percent of the respondents were employed by private truck owners and 2.3 percent of the respondents were employed by logistic enterprises.
