Among the many tourist attractions in the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Montenvers Railway was the most frequented in 2018. The rack railway line linking Chamonix to the Mont Blanc massif attracted more than 800,000 visitors. The Musée des Confluences in the region's capital city Lyon attracted nearly 700,000 visitors.
