In October 2022, the mean jeonse price for housing in South Korea amounted to around 288 million South Korean won. The mean jeonse price for apartments was the highest among all housing types, at 332.64 million South Korean won. Jeonse is a unique housing leasing system in South Korea. A large sum is paid to the landlord for the rental period, usually for about two years. The deposit is returned to the tenants at the end of the two-year contract.
