Sales change of alcohol and tobacco goods due to the COVID-19 epidemic Poland 2020

In March and April 2020, in terms of volume, strong alcohol recorded a drop in sales by three percent, beer by two percent, and the wine category increased by one percent over the same period last year. In terms of the value of sales, all alcohol products recorded single-digit increases in Poland. Cigarettes constitute the largest category in the FMCG basket in terms of value. However, in the period covered by the survey, significant decreases in volume sales were noted. In the period from March to April 2020, a drop in sales by eight percent y/y occurred. According to the source, this meant that 23.3 million packs of cigarettes were sold less than last year.
