Most popular Hungarians on TikTok 2020, by number of followers

As of May 2020, of all Hungarian influencers, Jázmin Hollósi had the biggest number of followers on TikTok reaching almost 700 thousand. Milán Szender ranked second with 487 thousand followers. However, based on the number of likes, Lara Schobert was the most popular Hungarian on the platform with approximately 69 million likes as of May 2020. Lara Schober was also the leading influencer considering the number of uploaded videos.

Hungarian TikTok users

TikTok is undoubtedly a social media platform preferred by the younger generations. In Hungary, only four percent of the platform’s users were over 24 years old in 2019. The biggest share of TikTok users were between the ages of 15 to 18 years old, measuring at 39 percent. In the same year, most TikTok users would spend up to half an hour on the platform, while only 10 percent of its users would spend more than two hours a day on TikTok.

Teenagers’ online activities

According to the findings of a survey conducted in 2020, Hungarian teenagers’ most common reason for using the internet was keeping in touch with other people. However, significant differences can be noticed between girls’ and boys’ internet usage, as around 70 percent of boys played games online, while this was true for only 20 percent of girls. At the same time, almost 70 percent of girls watched movies or series on the internet, while in the case of boys this figure reached only 41 percent.
