Unemployment rate by autonomous community in Spain Q2 2020

The unemployment rate in Spain was highest in the southern regions as of the first quarter of 2020. During the period under consideration, the autonomous city of Melilla registered Spain's highest unemployment rate at almost 23.4 percent. Extremadura, a landlocked southern region bordering Portugal, ranked third at 21.4 percent. On the flip side, the northern regions, such as the Basque Country or Navarre featured a much lower unemployment rate at an average of approximately 10 percent.
