Measles vaccination coverage in Europe 1999 to 2018

In 2018, 94 percent of children in the European Economic Area (EEA) received their first dose of the measles vaccination, while 89 percent received their second dose. The share of children receiving an initial dose of the measles vaccination has generally climbed across the provided time interval, but the share receiving two doses has experienced more fluctuations since 1999. The two large drops in children receiving two doses of the measles vaccine in Europe corresponds with two large spikes in cases of the disease in 2002 and 2010.
