Importance of crowd attendance for watching golf on TV in the U.S. 2020
Over the past years, professional sports leagues have gained significant popularity, offering great entertainment to fans watching live in the stadiums and back home on TV. However, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 had a huge impact on the sport industry, leading to the cancelation of many leagues and championships across all sports. One way in which professional sports were safely reintroduced was to play the games out in empty stadiums. In a survey conducted in the United States in May 2020, six percent of respondents stated that it was very important to have a crowd in attendance to enjoy golf on television.
