Comprehensive knowledge about HIV in Nigeria 2018, by gender
According to the results of a survey conducted in Nigeria in 2018, the most common misconception about HIV was that the viruses can be transmitted by mosquito bites. Additionally, the belief that HIV can be transmitted by sharing food with an infected person was the second most popular wrong assumption. However, some 79 percent of male and 82 percent of female respondents knew that a person who seems to be in good health could have HIV.
