In 2017, the highest share of total DALYs among male adults in India relative to depressive disorders was 28.9 percent. By contrast, the share of DALYs for mental disorders such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder was 0.5 percent. DALYs or disability adjusted life years is a metric used to quantify the overall disease burden which is the number of years that are lost as a result of ill-health, disability, or premature death.
