In 2018, Egypt had the highest shortage of affordable housing in the Middle East and North Africa region at approximately 1.5 million, followed by Iraq at approximately one million. The expected growth for the year 2020 in the construction industry in the MENA region was 80 percent with an emphasis on the development of affordable housing.
