Between 2010 and 2018, some 63 percent of children in Nigeria spent time with an adult in activities to promote learning and school readiness in the previous three days to the survey. Specifically, the surveys asked about activities such as reading books to the child, telling stories, singing songs, taking the child outside the home, playing, and spending time with the child naming, counting, or drawing things. Furthermore, about half of the children had some playthings at home, for instance household objects or objects found outside (sticks, rocks, animals, shells, leaves etc.), or toys.
