In 2020, the share of pre-seed startup founders in the Middle East and Africa with tech or product design backgrounds was about 66 percent. Most startups in the Middle East and Africa region were based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt as they have established growing entrepreneurship ecosystems.
