This statistic illustrates the share of European ports that possess an onshore power supply at one or more berths from 2016 to 2019 to power vessels' operations. The share of ports with an onshore power supply remained rather constant throughout this timeframe. In 2019, about one in two ports provided ships with the opportunity to connect to the port's power supply. However, vessels' use of on-shore electricity was not widespread due to technical and financial challenges, such as a lack of frequency converters at ports, and high price differentials between marine fuel and electricity.
