According to a survey carried out in March 2020, seven out of ten textile and apparel companies surveyed in Brazil acknowledged that they were not prepared for situations like the COVID-19 pandemic. As of that point in time, these companies were planning on delaying or negotiating payments to suppliers if the situation didn't normalize within a month. Moreover, one fifth of fashion businesses interviewed did not know how to describe what their production model would look like after the pandemic. Ten percent of respondent companies were betting on the valuation of national products and purchases in local markets, as well as on investments on automation of production and technologies that could enable remote work.
