China: share of closed hotels during COVID-19 outbreak 2020

According to a survey conducted among more than 600 lodging enterprises in China in the first two months of 2020, around 73 percent of hotels closed during coronavirus outbreak in January and February 2020. On average hotels halted operations for 27.6 days.

91 percent hotels, 6 percent guesthouses, and 3 percent apartment hotels;
32 percent five-star hotels or equivalent, 22 percent four-star hotels or equivalent, 19 percent three-star hotels or equivalent, and 27 percent budget hotels;
43 percent non-eco hotels and 57 percent eco hotels;
66 percent non-chain hotels, 12 percent domestic chained-brand hotels, and 22 percent international chained-brand hotels.
