Processed grain sorghum in South Africa 2000-2020
In 2019/2020, processed grain sorghum for human purposes and animal feed in South Africa stood at 161 thousand metric tons, of which 150 thousand was processed for human purposes and 11 thousand for animal feed. This represented an increase of roughly 1.26 percent from the preceding year.
An overall slight decrease can be seen in both the quantity of processed grain sorghum for human purposes as well as for animal feed throughout the period from 2000 to 2020. In 2000/2001, the total processed grain amounted to 209 thousand metric tons, of which 186 thousand was for human use while 23 thousand for animal feed. This shows a comprehensive decrease of approximately 23 percent compared to 2020
