
Groundnuts production in South Africa 2019/2020, by province
In 2019/2020 the total production of groundnuts in South Africa was 54.39 thousand metric tons. Out of the nine states, five states did not contribute to the production, namely Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Guateng. Among the remaining four states North West produced by far the largest amount of groundnuts amounting to 31.75 thousand metric tons, which represents roughly 58.4 percent of the overall production. Northern Cape accounted for the lowest production among the South African states producing ground nuts, with 3.6 thousand metric tons.
