Between 2000 and 2019, the production of oats in South Africa experienced significant fluctuations. This is caused due to weather conditions, plantings along with the prices of competing crops. In 2019, the preliminary production of oats in South Africa was 16 thousand metric tons, which represented roughly a decrease of 51.5 percent from 2018. Moreover, the highest quantity of oats produced was in 2011 amounting to 66 thousand metric tons.
