Export of services in Tanzania 2019-2021, by category
In 2021, services receipts in Tanzania accumulated roughly 2.4 billion U.S. dollars. The sum was lower in comparison to the corresponding period in 2020, when the export of services amounted to approximately 3.5 billion U.S. dollars. The decrease was mainly related to a drop in travel earnings. The Tanzanian tourism sector has struggled since 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2021, travel receipts accumulated around 874 million U.S. dollars, while it reached 2.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2019.
