Following the COVID-19 outbreak in Latin America and the implementation of measures across the region to contain its spread, online retail orders soared in Mexico, Colombia and Peru in late March 2020. In Brazil, however, the highest increase in e-retail orders was recorded at the end of February, right before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus a global pandemic. During the last week of February, e-retail orders in the South American country grew by 35 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

"Online orders" refer to the number of orders completed and payments processed, independent of the number of items sold. Includes transactions made on desktop, mobile, tablet, and apps.
The source adds that the data is based on the year-over-year trend of selected KPIs and is calculated by dividing the orders in the last 14 days by the orders completed in the same period the previous year.
The source adds the following note regarding methodology: "The data included in this visualization is an anonymized subset of the online sales of brands in more than 100 countries, based on consumer engagement across more than one billion consumer profiles and 2,500 global brands. Although the data is diverse in landscape and industry segments, it does not include data across all categories in all markets uniformly." More information on the methodology is available here.
