
Prevalence of pre-existing conditions prior to pregnancy in the U.S. 2015 and 2018
In the U.S., the prevalence rate of diagnosed obesity as a pre-existing, chronic condition prior to pregnancy doubled from 9.1 to 18.2 per 100 pregnancies between 2015 and 2018. In comparison, during this same amount of time, the prevalence of pre-existing substance use disorders increased from 1.4 to 1.7 per 100 pregnancies. This statistic shows the prevalence rate of pre-existing, chronic physical and behavioral conditions prior to pregnancy in the U.S. in 2015 and 2018.
