Sweden: work permits granted by citizenship 2022

In 2022, the highest number of work permits in Sweden were granted to people from Thailand, counting over 7,000. Indians received the second highest number of permits, followed by Turks. In total, 24,117 work permits were granted in Sweden that year. In regular cases, to apply for a work permit in Sweden, the candidate should already have a job offer in Sweden. Different forms and rules may apply in different cases, for instance if the applicant is currently outside Sweden or in Sweden, or if the person has a family member in Sweden, has studied in Sweden or is from a certain country or has a certain education.
