South Africa: sales volume of pears 2000-2019

As of 2018/2019, the sales volume of pears in markets from South Africa was at 47,112 metric tons, which represented an increase of roughly 17 percent from the preceding year. It was the highest growth since 2007/08. In the last two decades, local markets suffered a reduction in sales quantity of pears. The decrease may be related to the success of the export sector in South Africa, which led to an increase in average prices in the domestic market.
