Waste separation habits in Russia 2020, by federal district
The lowest share of Russians separating home waste was recorded in the Far Eastern Federal District, measuring at nine percent. On average across the country, slightly over one quarter of inhabitants stated that they sorted garbage at their homes. When naming the reasons why they did not separate waste, most Russians reported that they did not see a point in doing that, since they believed that all waste would be dropped into one pile at the landfill.
