In 2021, the earnings from Sasol Limited amounted to approximately 10.5 billion South African rand (around 680 million U.S. dollars). This a significant recovery from 2020, when the company had a loss of around 92 billion South African rand (5.92 billion U.S. dollars). This huge loss was due the effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and and lower oil prices. Moreover, Sasol Limited's Lake Charles Chemicals Project (LCCP) was in a ramp-up phase.
