Global approach in gold investment by sovereigns vs. central banks in 2020
In 2020, 74 percent of central banks said that they invest in physical gold globally, while only 20 percent of sovereigns said the same. Sovereign investors tended to implement more alternative modes of gold investment. For example, about 40 percent of sovereigns invested in gold-backed ETFs.
