Plastics packaging collected per household in the UK 2021, by type
An average of 21.5 kilograms of plastics packaging per household were collected for recycling in the United Kingdom in 2021. Plastic bottles accounted for 14.5 kilograms – or 67 percent – or this total. Meanwhile, one kilogram of plastic films and flexibles were collected per household by kerbside collection services. As of 2021, just 13 percent of UK local authorities offered kerbside collection services for plastic films and flexibles.
