Gender pay gap based in Belgium 2018, by business activity

In 2018, Belgian women earned an hourly wage that is, on average, six percent lower than the hourly pay of men. Although gender equality has progressed overall in Belgium, some activity sectors are still far behind. For instance, women in Belgium faced a gender pay gap of 21.5 percent in the field of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply in 2018. The sector of finance and insurance was also a field where gender equality has yet to be overcome. On the other hand, women who worked in the sector of construction in Belgium earned more than men in 2018. Nonetheless, women were still mostly earning less than their colleagues.
