According to a 2024 survey on the leading security challenges in Southeast Asia, about 65 percent of respondents in the Philippines stated that they were mainly concerned about the increased military tensions arising from potential flashpoints. This includes tension in the South China Sea and the Korean Peninsula. Unemployment and economic recession emerged as the second leading concern among Filipinos.
