Production of pineapples in South Africa 2000-2019
The production of pineapples in South Africa was estimated to recover in 2018/2019. Nearly 116 thousand metric tons were produced in the period, while in 2017/2018 the production volume reached only 10.4 thousand metric tons. The low level in that season was related to a drought that occurred in South Africa, especially in KwaZulu-Natal. From 2000, the production of pineapple has been facing an overall declining trend, with a peak of 176.5 thousand metric tons measured in 2002/2003.
