The three main areas of interest of the Agriculture and Food Law enacted in November 2018 are the following: to pay producers a fair price, so that they can earn a dignified living from their work, to strengthen the health, environmental and nutritional quality of products, and to promote healthy, safe and sustainable food for all.
While many advantages are perceived for farm animals as well as for farmers; these new measures also bring about obstacles.
The main drawbacks of these measures are regulatory and financial. The more complex rules and the cost of these measures compared to the returns on investment are the most important obstacles for French farmers.
