A case of labor dispute was recorded if there was a disruption of work that lasted for at least one working day (eight hours) as a result of disagreement between companies and unions.

Working days lost = Number of workers on strike × Hours on strike ÷ 1 Working day (8 hours)

Disputes arising from reasons unrelated to improving work conditions such as politically motivated strikes were not counted.
