Government spending sub-score of Egypt on the Economic Freedom Index 2000-2020
In 2020, the government spending sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for Egypt was 69.9. This was an increase of 1.8 points from the previous year. Between 2000 and 2020, the score for Egyptian government spending fluctuated between 54.4 points, in 2000 and 2001, and 78.6 points in 2005. For most of the period under review, the Egyptian sub-score was higher than the world average, except for 2000, 2001, and 2017. Compared to the African average, the Egyptian government sub-score was higher in 2005 and 2010.
