Natural gas export prices for pipelines in the U.S. 1985-2019

The export of 1,000 cubic feet of natural gas from the United States to Canada was priced at an average of 2.77 U.S. dollars in 2019. For Mexico, this figure stood at 2.57 U.S. dollars. Exports to Mexico were generally less expensive than those to Canada. Since 1985, figures fluctuated with an overall increase between 2003 and 2008, reaching a peak in the latter year. In 2008, natural gas exported by pipeline to Canada was sold at an average price of 8.86 U.S. dollars per thousand cubic feet and to Mexico at 8.25 U.S. dollars per thousand cubic feet.
