U.K.: smart speakers' error rate by city accent 2020

The Welsh city Cardiff and the Scottish city Glasgow ranked highest among U.K. cities by error score of smart speakers in 2020. Welsh and Scottish dialects seemed to be the hardest to understand by digital assistants, with a score of 82 in Cardiff and 77 in Glasgow.

The source adds the following information regarding methodology: " Locals in each area recorded asking their voice assistant 10 questions. The resulting voice clarity rating out of 10 was then scored were combined with the number of times a month people in those cities searched for “why doesn’t Alexa/Google understand me?” on Google every month to create the final score, with lower scores indicating better understanding. "
