Supplementary notes

A diffusion index indicates the climate of the banking industry estimated by heads of banking institutions in the observed quarter. The index is derived by calculating the proportions of respondents whose "climate improved", "climate remained the same", and "climate deteriorated", assigning weights 1, 0.5, and 0 to them respectively. Finally, the average value is calculated and converted to percentage. Interpretation: Percentage of indicators that expect that the climate will improve.
