CPI for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Egypt 2019-2022
As of March 2022, the monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) for food and non-alcoholic beverages in Egypt was at 122.6 points, an increase of 5.2 points from July. The indicator grew significantly in February 2022 and can be linked to the Russia-Ukraine war and its effects on wheat prices. However, since December 2021, the CPI index for food has been following a sharp increasing trend. Further, in March 2022, the CPI for all items in Egypt followed a rising trend, mainly driven by increases in food prices, and stood at 124.4 points.
