Main modes of exporting crude oil in Canada 2015-2019

Pipelines are Canada's main transportation mode for exporting crude oil products. In 2019, some 85 percent of all crude oil was moved by pipelines, at 3.18 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, 0.28 million barrels per day were transported by rail and 0.26 million barrels per day were exported via marine vessels. Between 2015 and 2019, Canada's total crude oil export volume increased by 22.4 percent.
