Hyundai Motor's production volume Ulsan South Korea 2015-2022

In 2022, around 1.42 million vehicles were produced at Hyundai Motor Company's Ulsan plant in South Korea. The Ulsan plant had the highest production volume out of the company's manufacturing facilities both domestically and internationally.

The main factory

Hyundai Motor Company was one of South Korea’s largest companies, and it operated various production facilities for the manufacturing and selling of automobiles on a global scale. Out of its three factories located in South Korea, the Ulsan factory’s level of production was far larger than that of its domestic peers. Established in 1968, the factory was responsible for the production of 16 different car models which covered passenger cars, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), and small commercial vehicles.

Continuous labor disputes

Unfortunately, Hyundai Motor Company is infamous for the regular strikes that occur due to labor disputes from collective bargaining between the company and its employees. The decrease in production recorded in 2016 and 2017 correspond to the long strikes that happened in those years. Such disruptions in production incurred losses for the company during those periods. The public opinion is not positive on this annual back and forth between the two parties, and it remains a point that needs to be addressed in the future.
